Baby Scharlau #2

Here's the little peanut at 12 weeks. We had the ultrasound done today, just a first trimester screening. Everything looks great! (In case you can't tell on the picture, the head is on the right. There is a hand just above the nose. There is also a foot sticking up on the left side of the photo.) The baby sat very still while getting its picture taken, probably sleeping. Addy did not sit still for her 12 week ultrasound, she was a little jumping bean! The ultrasound tech measured that the baby is about 2 inches long from head to bottom right now, so right where he/she should be!
So everything is going very well. I feel like I am "popping" out much faster this time! I'll be in those maternity pants in no time!!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

News...

So Addison has been bugging me this week about posting...she's tired of keeping the secret in! She wants to let everyone know how excited she is to be a big sister!! Her new little sister or brother is due to arrive around June 7th next year. She loves babies and is very excited to have a real one of her own around the house! :) (we'll see how long that lasts!)
I am feeling pretty good now. I went through a few weeks of being completely exhausted and nauseated. Thank goodness the nausea is gone, now I am just tired from chasing Addison around all day, she's quite the handful.
What's new with Addison this week...? We've been working a lot lately on eating with a fork, and she is doing very well. Until she gets tired of it and just decides to throw all her food on the floor. She continues to impress us with her ever expanding vocabulary. We understand her a good portion of the time, but sometimes we just have to let her point to what she wants! With all the cold weather lately we have been confined to the indoors. Mostly because mom and dad don't want to stand out in the cold. We have bundled up and gone for a few walks though, its not so bad once you get your heart pumping! Its going to be a long winter stuck indoors with Addy, we're trying to clean up our basement a little so we can give her a place to run around and burn off some energy!
So that's it for this week, sorry, no new pics! Have a great week!

It's been way too long...

Helping mom rake the leaves.

Having fun sitting in the big pile that mom just raked!

Here, I picked this one just for you! Isn't it pretty?

Check out my little ponytail on the top of my head! :)

So the month of October blew by and here we are almost halfway through November! I'm sad to see the cold and rainy days of November here already. Although, I can't complain too much, just a week ago at this time it was 70 degrees and sunny. By the weekend it was 35 for a high!! Crazy Wisconsin weather!
October was a fairly uneventful month for us. We spent the nice weekends getting things done to the house to get ready for winter. Addy enjoyed playing outside in the leaves! She had fun picking up all the pretty ones!
Addison significantly added to her vocabulary this past month. Every day it seems she says something new. She loves to read books and point out all of the cats, dogs, cows, etc. This afternoon I think she sat by herself with her basket of books for a good 20 minutes 'reading'. Its very cute to watch her! It also gives me a break from keeping her out of the refridgerator, chasing her up the stairs, and just keeping her from tearing the house apart! :) She really is having fun discovering all the things that she is capable of now, which is exhausting for mom and dad!
Hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just two weeks away, which means Addison will be 18 months old! How time has flown by!

Go Brewers!

So here we are at the end of September already! I'm not quite sure where the month has gone! It has been a busy month, to say the least. A big THANK YOU to all of you for your thoughts and prayers after Tom's dad passed away. It was a rough time for everyone, but we know that he is not in pain anymore.

Here are a few pics from the last few weeks!

So Addison actually let me put her hair in little itty bitty pigtails. They stayed in for about 30 minutes. She hasn't let me put anything in her hair since. She wants to check out everything that I try to do, so she rips out barettes, etc right away.

This month we have been doing a lot of talking! She is a little parrot, repeating everything that we say! Its very cute! Addy definitely has a mind of her own, she is a very determined little girl when she decides that she wants to do something. The little tantrums are oh so fun. She's also teething again, so that is probably part of the problem. I love runny noses! Never leave home without a pocket full of kleenex!

She has really been a pretty good girl this month. She is a very lovey little girl, she gives GREAT hugs and kisses! :)

Congratulations to the Milwaukee Brewers who clinched the NL Wildcard spot this afternoon. Tom and I went to the game against the Cubs with some friends. It was a great game! After the Brewers had won, we stayed at Miller Park to watch the NY Mets lose to Florida! It was all so fun! This is the first time in 26 years the Brew Crew have made it to the playoffs! GO BREWERS!!

This morning Addison and I, along with some friends and co-workers from St. Lukes, walked in the Komen Race for the Cure to raise money for Breast Cancer research. Two co-workers of mine and Tom's sister Sherry have been battling breast cancer, so we did this in honor of them! There were over 12,000 walkers/runners today and more than $1 million was raised!

Happy 105th Harley-Davidson!

Labor Day weekend was a big weekend for us here in the Scharlau household. We attended some of the festivities around town celebrating Harley-Davidsons 105th Anniversary. There were block parties all over downtown, a big celebration with music, etc at the Summerfest grounds, and different events at all the dealerships and Harley plants all over town. It really was a lot of fun seeing the bikes everywhere! Saturday morning was the big parade (see pic above). There were 7500 bikes in the parade!! We watched for a little over an hour, and we may have seen about half of the bikes. There were riders from all over the world! It was neat to see how everyone customizes their bikes to make it their own! Addison liked the parade too. She got a little scared when the police bikes (from all over the country) went by with their sirens on. After they went by she was fine and was waving to all the riders going by! :)
Here we are watching the parade come down Wisconsin Ave. Hannah enjoyed the parade too! She came up to stay with us for the weekend so we didn't have to find a babysitter every night! Addison loves having her Auntie Hannah around! :)
By Sunday, I was tired! I'm not used to going out that many nights in a row. Saturday night we saw Bruce Springstein down at the lakefront. He was the big headliner for the whole celebration. Lets just say that HD made the right decision bringing in the Boss instead of Elton John like they did for the 100th. I don't think anyone lost their jobs this year! :)
September 2nd Tom and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary. (And actually, the 105th Anniversary was also the 5th Anniversary of our first date,in case anyone cares to know.) We didn't do anything special. We both had to work and didn't feel like getting a sitter after our hectic weekend, so we stayed in and had chinese food from our favorite chinese restaurant, Emperor of China.

So life is back to normal. Addy is learning new words every day. She repeats so many things that we say! She loves to get into everything around the house. Addison has discovered that she is now tall enough to get things off the dining room table or strong enough to pull herself up on a chair to get what she wants (little stinker!) In the past weeks she has had four teeth push through, including her two bottome 1 yr molars. She now has all 4 top front, 4 bottom front and top and bottom 1year molars. So we just got over the runny nose etc from teething and now she has a cold!! Oh well, just the first of many I'm sure she will have this winter!

Addison really is a lot of fun to play with these days. As you can see in the pic above, she decided she wanted to put on ALL of her socks. So daddy put them on for her! She looked like she had ski boots on!

Here we are today, Addy and Momma's day together. We were sitting in the kitchen eating a banana when I took this pic of us. I thought it was cute! Have a great week!

August has been busy!

So August has been a busy month for us here in the Scharlau household, as you can tell by my lack of blogging! The weeks have just flown by and its hard to believe we are looking at Labor Day weekend already-just a week away! At the beginning of the month we went to the Wisconsin State Fair. We went to see the animals-Addison was a little freaked out by how big the cows and horses were. She liked looking at them from afar.
Addison enjoyed her first State Fair corndog-and boy was it yummy! She also had some strawbery gellato which she really liked too! We didn't see as much at the Fair as we normally do. As most of you know, you never get to do as much as you want to do with a one year old around! But we did have fun!

This is Addy checking out the baby bunny in our backyard. As you can tell, they really aren't afraid of people. It takes a lot to scare them away. They keep coming back to eat my plants. Arrgh....how frustrating! Thank goodness for Liquid Fence or I'd have nothing left in my yard! Now I just have to keep the chipmunks from eating my tomatoes!!
Addy is going to be my gardening buddy(in the future!). She still loves to dig in the dirt and get into the flowers like her Momma and Grandpa!
What else did we do this month....? We went to the Elkhorn Antique Flea Market, which is ALWAYS fun. You never know what you will find! There's always lots of fun things to put in the garden. The flea markets are four times a summer, and there is one more to go in September. I think Tom and I may try to go on our own so we can really get to look at things. :)
When we weren't out and about, we were home working on the house. Tom has been busy painting our garage, and has started painting the trim around some of the windows on the house. We're hoping to get the rest painted by the end of fall. This week we are getting some new windows put in in our dining/living room area. Hopefully it will help to make our home a little more energy effiecient come winter!
Next weekend is the Harley Davidson 105th Anniversary, so we will partake in some of the festivities down at the lakefront. Hannah will be coming to stay with us for the weekend to help take care of Addison. I guess thats it for us... 'til the next post....
