April

So here we are, April already! The first weekend in April was so beautiful! We played outside, got to explore new things... Addison had a fun time!
And she took great naps after getting all that fresh air! How wonderful for Mom and Dad! Addy got to dig in the dirt...it was so fun! "This is so great", she thought, "It feels really neat between my fingers!"
"Hmm...I wonder what it tastes like?"

Mud pie anyone?? Yes, Addison decided she wanted to know what the dirt tasted like. It wasn't all that great. She didn't fight too much when we were scooping it out of her mouth and giving her water to rinse! :)

We decided crawling on the grass would be more fun than eating dirt! She had so much fun outside, so many new things to see and touch (or eat)

A little behind...

Addison and her Daddy on Easter

Such a pretty girl in her Easter dress!

What a beautiful sunny day! Too bad there is so much snow on the ground! No easter egg hunt this year!

Hangin' out in Papa's chair!

Addison learned you have to move quick to beat Auntie Hannah to the chair!

Addy and her great-grandparents

So we are a little behind on our blogging! Life seems to be so hectic lately... so it has been a few weeks since we have made an entry.

Easter was a bit snowy this year, we got 15" of snow here in Wauwatosa on Good Friday! How frustrating! It had been pretty warm that week and all the other snow had melted. I was really looking forward to spring. But no such luck. We ended up shoveling...again. This has been the 2nd snowiest winter on record here in the Milwaukee area. I think they said we have had around 96" of snow. Which is WAY too much in my book! Bring on spring!

Other than the snow on the ground and it being cold, Easter was nice. We went to my parents in Johnsburg. Addison had fun going through her Easter baskets. She enjoyed chasing the plastic eggs across the floor! $.79 gifts are the BEST!

This past weekend we made an 8hr road trip to Ohio for a family friends' 90th birthday and to visit family. (I must say, Addison did great traveling all that way! I was worried how she was going to do being stuck in her carseat for so long, but she did awesome! It helped having Auntie Hannah in the back seat to entertain the munchkin!) Addy got to meet her great-grandparents and great-aunt and uncle for the first time on this trip. Its too bad we don't live closer so we could get together more often, but we enjoy the times that we do! We really had a nice weekend, it just went by so fast!

Now we are back to normal life. Hard to believe that it is April 1st already! Another 8 weeks and someone will be turning 1!! Addison is just growing so fast. Every day she seems to learn something new. I have been looking back at pictures from when she was just a few weeks old, or even a few months old, and WOW she has changed so much! Its hard to remember her as a little itty-bitty baby! We have SO MUCH fun with her, she is just a great little girl!

Getting back to normal...

We took Addison swimming at the club for the first time. She LOVES taking a bath, so we were sure she'd love the pool...and she did. She spashed around and had fun watching the other kids playing.
" Whatever it is...I didn't do it!"
Addy's new thing is to climb the stairs. As you can see our stairs are not carpeted and are very steep, so we have to keep a close eye on her. She does very well though!

So last week was a rough week. Addy cut another tooth on the top (#5), and had an ear infection. Momma had a sinus and upper respiratory infection (and is still coughing), and Dad somehow managed to avoid the illness. So this week we are finishing up our doses of antibiotics and getting back to normal.
Two weeks ago Addy had her 9 month appointment and she weighed in at 20 lbs and is 30 inches tall! She is getting so big! Mom is slowly starting to pack more and more clothes away. Hopefully the weather will start changing soon and we can start wearing the warm weather clothes mom bought at the end of last season!

Happy Birthday Hannah!

Happy 16th Birthday Auntie Hannah!!

Can you believe she is 16 already!? And yes there are 16 candles on that cake! We celebrated Hannahs birthday over the weekend, but the official day is Feb. 26th.

Addy hit the 9 month mark on the 25th, which seems crazy to me! Where have the last nine months gone? In a few more months she'll be the one with the chocolate cake in front of her!!

Addison is ALWAYS on the go these days. We've had fun chasing her around the house, which doesn't really allow mom and dad to get much of anything done when we are home with her! So we get as much done during nap time as possible.

This week she has been working on standing on her own. Her balance has been getting better by the day. She has also been working on feeding herself. Addy has taken a liking to Cheerios, graham crackers and little bits of cheese. We've been trying some new foods here and there, too. Some that go over well. Others...well...not so much, but we try. I have been making most of her food myself, pureeing fruits and veggies, etc. and she has done very well with them. She's finally getting to the point where certain foods aren't restricted, so her range of foods that she can have is opening up. I can hardly wait for summertime for the fresh fruit and veggies. Winter stuff just isn't the same!

We can hardly wait for WARMER temps. This weekend it got up near 40 degrees, so we bundled up and went out for walks on Sat and Sun. All of us were happy to get outside! I think even Addison has cabin fever! I think this coming weekend is supposed to be warmer, but of course, with more snow!

Another week in the Scharlau household

She liked wearing her hat this day for whatever reason. Usually she likes to take it off, same as her mittens.
Addison has taken a liking to riding in this basket. It usually has DVD's in it, which she empties out. Then she climbs in and Daddy takes her for a ride around the living room like she's on a ride at Disney World!
So can you tell that Addy is sitting in a high chair that Momma had when she was a baby? Grandma and Grandpa dug this one out for Addy to use while she is there on Fridays.
Daddy's little helper! She loves to be involved in whatever we are doing!
Here we are watching out the window, waiting for all the snow that they predicted for Sunday. Thank goodness it never came and we only got rain! Although now we have a lot of standing water, which isn't good either.

Addy has another tooth as of this weekend. Too bad its not her other front tooth! Hopefully that one is working its way in soon! Other than the tooth, the week was a pretty quiet one. One week closer to spring!

The snow can go!

This week one of Addy's top teeth FINALLY popped through! I think the other one is starting to work on her now too. She looks so cute when she smiles with those three teeth! (I am going to miss the toothless smiles though!) Her hair seems to be growing faster these days too. Maybe we'll have an itty bitty ponytail by her first birthday! :)
Addison has had a fun week of playing "lets follow mommy and daddy around the house". She crawls after us wherever we go and will sometimes go "exploring" on her own. There are so many fun things to get into around the house! She's pretty quick on those hands and knees, I can only imagine she is going to move faster on two feet! She has started to attempt to stand on her own this week also, and is getting a little better at it every day. I'm sure walking/running won't be too far behind!

This is a picture of our house after I shoveled the sidewalk the day after the big snow. (Addy watched from her saucer at the front door!) We got at least 16 inches on Feb 5th/6th!! Thank goodness we have had some melting in between snows or we would have over 5 feet on the ground by now! Tom and I are done with the snow and cold, so it can be spring at any time now!
